It was unexpected, but they poured the footers today (thought it was to be Saturday), so we HAD to go to the property to take MORE pictures!!!!! The basement walls will go up on Monday. It is kinda cool seeing the various stages a house goes though before it becomes a home - OUR HOME!!!

This area is the garage and behind that will be the laundry room, master bath, master bedroom and sitting area.

This area will be the entryway, kitchen and the morning room.

Here is where the two other bedrooms and second bath will be.

We have a BASEMENT!

The foundation has been dug out. This is looking toward the back of the house. The  left side shows where the morning room will be and the right is where the MBR sitting room will be.

Our new neighbors let us take a picture of the dig from their second story.

They started digging the basement today. It is amazing what you can get done in such a short period of time when you have the right tools . . . and an excavator does the work nicely don't you think? We've been told that once they pour the walls - probably Monday - the rest of the build goes quickly. I hope that's true. But on the other hand, I have so much to do to get ready for the move. Thankfully we are still holding on to my house so we can sort though things we want in the new house, things we'll leave for JP in this house and things that just need to disappear.

Pre-foundation!

Randy is standing where the Master Suite will be.

Our property from the back property line
View from the front of the property. We have a bulldoser for a lawn ornament!
As promised, here are the first of, I'm sure, many pictures to document the evolution of our new home. They delivered this large excavator to the site today and are going to dig the basement tomorrow. So, the pics tomorrow will be of a large hole in the ground. I can't wait! It still doesn't seem real but once they start the process, I'm sure it will sink in. Until next time . . . .

It's FINALLY happening!

We got a call from our project manager, Ben, today and we will FINALLY be breaking ground on Thursday morning!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought this day would never come. It seemed like setback after setback happened and we were beginning to think that maybe this wasn't supposed to be. They start you out like a bullet out of a gun and have you pick all your finishes and get all the financing in order within the first couple of weeks. That was the fun part! If the house comes together like it has in my imagination it will be BEAUTIFUL! Well, then the brakes were put on because the style of home we want is not built in the community we are putting it. There are only colonials there and we are building a ranch (gotta think of our golden years, ya know!) So, they had to send all of the finishes to underwriting to see if what we wanted would be supported in this community. After the 3rd appraisal we finally have every duck in a row and can start! I told our project manager that it is his sole responsibility to keep this process migraine free for me. One migraine and I get to dog him!!!!! lol    Once the basement is dug, they will pour footers on Saturday and then - if all goes as planned - will pour the foundation on Monday. Pictures are forthcoming so enjoy this adventure with us!! It should be a BLAST!
